▶The advanced workshop will bring together 60-80 early career and established researchers to discuss the latest advances in the platelet field and the underpinning technology.
▶ This includes the increasing recognition of the role of platelets in inflammation and in thromboinflammatory disease, as exemplified by the Covid-19 pandemic, and their role in venous thrombosis, and the emergence of GPVI as a target in ischaemic stroke with minimal effect on bleeding.
▶ The technologies include the advances in generating platelets from iPS cells and the use of advanced microscopy to be able to visualize the organization of proteins on the platelet surface.
▶ The goal is to discuss these advances and how they can be applied to the development of new ways to prevent thrombotic disease, including personalized medicine.
