Advance course in Platelet Research

The advanced workshop will bring together 60-80 early career and established researchers to discuss the latest advances in the platelet field and the underpinning technology.

This includes the increasing recognition of the role of platelets in inflammation and in thromboinflammatory disease, as exemplified by the Covid-19 pandemic, and their role in venous thrombosis, and the emergence of GPVI as a target in ischaemic stroke with minimal effect on bleeding.

The technologies include the advances in generating platelets from iPS cells and the use of advanced microscopy to be able to visualize the organization of proteins on the platelet surface.

The goal is to discuss these advances and how they can be applied to the development of new ways to prevent thrombotic disease, including personalized medicine.
